I TURNR – Plate Translated: Eye Turner, and that is does. This S15 is one of those cars that catches your eye, and your eye follows it, until your eye can go no further, so then your head starts to turn, until it can go no further, then all of a sudden you are facing 180 degrees from your original position, still watching as it disappears into the horizon.

That was not always the case, in fact it was far from it. Alvin was on the hunt for a Silvia. The S15, his model of choice. The aerodynamic shape and look of the Spec R along with the fact that this the latest and last version of the S-Chassis had made his mind up for him, all that was left to do was find one to buy.

Rewind 3 years, when Alvin came across this S15. It had spent most of its life outside, the front and rear bumpers along with the side skirts were all cracked and the nose of the car was covered in stone chips. Perfect. Once the car was in Alvin’s possession, it was time to make his mark on it.

Under the hood resides a well modified SR20DET built up with only the best parts. Alvin has fitted a Garrett GT2876R which sits proudly on a  Sinco Customs Top Mount Manifold with a Tial 44mm external wastegate. Head work includes porting, Ferrea Stainless intake and exhaust valves, Tomei cams – 260 degree intake 12mm lift, and 270 degree exhaust 12.5mm lift. Tomei Valve springs, a Tomei adjustable exhaust cam, Tomei Rocker Arm Stoppers. Keeping everything running in sync is a stronger Iwis timing chain with a new chain tensioner.  The Cometic 1.5mm multi-layered head gasket and ARP head studs seal the deal.

Fuel delivery is taken care of by a Bosch 044 fuel pump, Sard 860cc injectors and a Tomei Fuel Pressure regulator. Other under bonnet upgrades include a custom surge tank, custom oil catch can, braided stainless turbo oil and water lines along with a GReddy RS BOV and Greddy Front Mount Intercooler. Cooling is taken care of by a 50mm alloy radiator with twin electric fans, and a brand new genuine Nissan thermostat.

The unsuspecting air is sucked into the SR20 via a 100mm intake pipe with Simota air filter and enters the engine through a 60mm throttle body. Once the suck squeeze bang blow sequence is complete, the gases exit down a custom dump pipe and a 5Zigen catback exhaust. This set up is managed by a Link G4 ECU tuned to an impressive 290kw (388hp) on pump gas.

Getting all that power to the ground is left to the Extreme Clutch and Heavy Duty pressure plate, Chromoly flywheel, factory Nissan 6spd gearbox and a Nissan R200 3.69 LSD, which sends it out to the 18×10 TBC JET6 rear wheels. Up front are a pair of 18x9s and the set is wrapped in NITTO INVO tires.
In the suspension department Alvin has fitted a set of Drift Spec TEIN coilovers complete with adjustable rear arms. Nolathane castor arm and front and rear sway bar bushes keep body roll to a minimum. Stopping is left to the factory Spec R brakes, with slotted DBA Rotors and Project MU999 brake pads.
Moving on to the exterior Alvin has chosen an M Sport front bumper and side skirts, along with a genuine Trial rear bumper which he flew to Australia from New Zealand to collect, so he could beat another cash buyer to it. Other enhancements include the carbon fiber bonnet, dark tail lights and side indicators and rolled rear guards, along with the duck tail, and rear roof visor.

The interior has been kept relatively basic with the addition of a Defi boost gauge, Defi gauge controller and a Pivot shift light. ICE includes a Pioneer DVD head unit with iPod/iPhone and USB functionality, 4x 260w Pioneer speakers and a 800w JVC amplifier.

Words by: S-Chassis

Alvin would like to thank:

FAIZAL RAMZAN -For all the ideas and hard work on the car.

ARVIND LAL- For the panel work, my car wouldn’t have been this perfect without him. He very well knew that I want my car to be perfect and he never let me down.

AUTOSTANCE – For the choice of wheels

ST HI-TECH – Dyno tune and all the hard work.

S-Chassis would also like to make a special thanks to Erick Wu, the cars new owner. Due to a change of plans Alvin decided it was time to move the S15 on to a new home, and within hours of it being advertised for sale Erick had bought it. As the shoot was pre-arranged both Alvin and Erick came out to the with the car so this feature could still go ahead.
